Delnor Health Care Foundation Names Bartel Award Recipient

Delnor Health Care Foundation recently announced the most recent recipient of the prestigious Bartel Award:  St. Charles resident and Delnor Auxiliary president Laura Grim.  Each year, the Bartel Award is given to an individual who demonstrates extraordinary support of, investment in and involvement with Delnor Health System and its affiliates.

Grim was recognized for her achievement at a recent Delnor appreciation event held at the Herrington Inn in Geneva, where Delnor Health Care Foundation board member Joanne Hansen introduced her by detailing her twenty-year history of work with the Delnor Auxiliary, a group of volunteers that support the mission of Delnor Health System through fundraising efforts.

During her two decades of service, Grim has served as newsletter editor, secretary, leader of the antiques show and house walk special events and as president elect of the Auxiliary.  Twice she has acted as president of the organization and as the group’s Charity Ball co-chair.   “Through the course of her leadership and these volunteer roles, she has helped the Auxiliary become a tremendous philanthropic force,” says Catherine Wierz, chief development officer of Delnor Health Care Foundation.  “As a group the Auxiliary has contributed $4.1 million to Delnor Hospital, making them the largest donor to the Foundation.

And according to those who nominated her this year, Grim has provided this level of leadership by exemplifying positive, consistent dedicated service.  “Laura’s commitment to Delnor Health System is unwavering,” said Preston Reilly, M.D., Delnor Health Care Foundation board member.  “She has a true passion for what she does, and this makes her a great ambassador for the Auxiliary and the entire Delnor Health System.”

Grim says that her commitment is shared by others on the Auxiliary board.  “When you work as part of a volunteer group, nothing can be accomplished alone,” she says.  “I have had wonderful people to work with over the years who are just as dedicated as I am to supporting Delnor as our local hospital. “ 
The Bartel Award was established in 1994 to honor Tom Bartel, a former Delnor Health System board member.  Each year it is given to an individual who demonstrates excellence in leadership in service to Delnor Health System.
