New West Addition Focused on Patient Comfort
In 2008, Delnor opened the largest addition in the hospital’s history last summer. The three-story, 100,000 square foot expansion features 52 new spacious, private rooms for orthopedics, oncology, surgery and renal patients, and was built after extensive research into best practices in hospital design and patient care and comfort. “Research shows that patients in private rooms heal faster, and are more at ease in space that feels less clinical and more like home,” says Lore Bogolin, Delnor’s Chief Nursing Officer.
All patient rooms have natural lighting, beautiful furnishings, large bathrooms and showers, and sleeper-sofas for family members. Common areas feature such amenities as lounges with fireplaces, outdoor balconies, water-features, skylights, kitchens and an education center with wireless Internet. This addition was funded by the Delnor Foundation Sophisticated Medicine --- Close to Home campaign.
